Statement
 
Working from a feeling or memory, Karen’s paintings develop through application of transparent acrylic washes. The process is instinctive and constantly evolving and changing. "It has been a long journey in learning to let go of controlling the ​creative process. I love the freedom of not having a plan and letting the artwork create its own path".  
 
Karen’s current body of work sees her leaving behind the line-based style to lean more into expressive figurative work. The restrictions imposed by recent lock downs enabled her to access a new level of freedom in her work by providing more time for her art practice and the opportunity to focus on what was important.

Paintings are available for purchase direct from Art Gallery on Darling from March 28 to April 3, 2022.
